Our coaches are the heart of EDUCA SWISS. We are pleased to share a short interview with Hans-Jörg Tschachtli, who has been actively volunteering as a coach at EDUCA SWISS since February 2019, helping to advance our mission.
What motivated you to become a coach at EDUCA SWISS?
«Curiosity, a flattering job posting (‘life-wise’), and my own experiences with financing education inspired me to become a coach at EDUCA SWISS.»
Which candidates have the best chances of successfully realising their educational plans?
«Those who have already taken detours or made mistakes along the way in their educational journey.»
What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a coach at EDUCA SWISS?
«Only decide after your second or third look at the application file. A deeper understanding of individual stories is important.»
What do you enjoy most about being a coach at EDUCA SWISS?
«Maintaining contact even after the training has been completed is what I enjoy most.»
Is there a particular person whose story has especially touched you?
«On the day of the Credit Suisse decision, I had a coaching meeting at the Uetlihof with a committed CS employee. That experience particularly touched and motivated me.»
What challenges do you see in the Swiss education system, and how can coaching in financial planning help address them?
«The ‘democratisation’ of education over recent decades has created many more opportunities for the general public. However, public funds are increasingly limited, and good strategies are rather rare (teacher shortages). Private and non-profit institutions have a lot of room to act here, and coaching can help meet these challenges through targeted financial planning.»
Hans-Jörg has dedicated decades to education and further training. He has long advised people on career changes, believing that work is, for many, a key to fulfilment. His commercial and academic background led him to ETH Zurich, where he worked until his retirement. At EDUCA SWISS, he now shares his extensive knowledge and experience with people facing financial barriers to education.
